Amilcar
Title
Amilcar
Description
Amilcar was a French automobile manufactured from 1921 to 1940. Joseph Lamy and Emile Akar founded the company in 1921. The name "Amilcar" was an imperfect anagram of the partners' names. In 1933, "Sofia" (Societe financiere pour l'automobile), took control of Amilcar, which nevertheless continued to function under its existing name. Hotchkiss took control of Sofia and Amilcar, but Amilcar ceased production and sales in 1940 at the beginning of World War II.
