American Motors Corporation (often called AMC or American Motors) was an American automobile manufacturing company formed by the merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company in May 1954. Renault acquired a major interest in American Motors in 1979, and sold AMC to Chrysler in 1987. AMC became the Jeep-Eagle division of Chrysler, then the Jeep Eagle Corporation in 1988, and finally fully merged into Chrysler in 1990.
