Title
Tucker
Description
Preston Tucker founded the Tucker Corporation on July 8, 1946. Tucker, a former policeman and salesman, intended to launch an independent car company. At the time of the initial stock offering Tucker had 49 distributors and 363 dealerships in the United States. In 1948, the company's shaky financial picture became worse when it became the focus of media reports, a US government investigation, and ultimately a federal grand jury indictment. In 1950, despite success with the grand jury trial, funding had run out and the Tucker Corporation went bankrupt.
